Marie E. Wall, 92, McPherson, died Nov. 25, 2003, at Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson.
Born, March 7, 1911, in King City Township, Elyria, she was the daughter of Fred C. and Ida Edith (Koehn) Wedel.
She attended Farms country school, Happy Hollow country school, Galva Elementary School, and graduated from Galva High School in 1929. She graduated from McPherson College with a bachelor's of arts degree in elementary education in 1952.
On May 5, 1957, she married John M. Wall in Galva. He died Dec. 12, 1967. She lived in McPherson County all of her life.
A retired elementary school teacher, she had taught for more than 38 years, 22 of those years for country schools in McPherson County. She was a substitute teacher until 1993 and a tutor through the summer of 2003.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in McPherson, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Lambda Chapter, and McPherson Area Retired Teacher's Association. She was a former member of Emmanuel (Kanton) Mennonite Church in Galva and was baptized by Rev. J.J. Ratzlaff. She was also a former member of the Kansas Teacher's Association.
Survivors include brother, Daton and wife Verda Wedel of Newton; sister, Bertha Jantz of McPherson; stepdaughter, Irene Hamilton of Canton; four step-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Nov. 29 at First Presbyterian Church in McPherson with Rev. William J. Nelsen and Pastor Phil Radatz officiating. Burial was at Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Galva.
Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Church and The Cedars, both in McPherson.
