Marie Flaming
Marie Flaming, 97, of Goessel died May 4, 2004, at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
Born Nov. 20, 1906, near Hillsboro, she was the daughter of John M. and Eva (Duerksen) Pankratz.
On March 12, 1927, she married John G. Flaming. He died July 26, 1971.
She has been a lifetime Goessel area resident. She was a homemaker and member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel.
Her hobbiees included quilting, gardening, and raising flowers. She was a member of the Goessel Garden Club and furnished flowers for the Sunday morning church services.
She was preceded in death by her husband and 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include sons, Randolf and wife Laura Flaming of Goessel and Melvin and wife Lois Flaming of Voorhees, N.J.; daughter, Marilyn and husband Milferd Schmidt of rural Canton; daughters-in-law, Carol Flaming of Hillsboro and Eva Flaming of Hesston; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel with Revs. Mark Wiens and Floyd Born officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Memorials have been established with Bethesda Home or the church.
