Marion County Toy Run is scheduled for Nov. 6

The 11th annual Marion County Toy Run will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

Traditionally, motorcyclists and classic cars travel from Marion to Hillsboro, where participants unload toys at Emprise Bank.

A chili feed and auction will follow at Hillsboro American Legion.

Sponsored by Sons of American Legion Post #366, ABATE of Kansas District 9, and Route 56 Classic Cruisers, the toy run has become a major fund-raiser for underprivileged children of Marion County.

Businesses and individuals are asked to donate items which will be auctioned off after the toy run. Monetary donations also are accepted.

Proceeds from the auction are donated to Marion County Ministerial Alliance who uses the money to provide underprivileged kids and their families in Marion County a better holiday season.

Participants in the run are asked to donate one new toy as an entry fee. These toys also are donated to needy children for the Christmas holiday.

In the past 10 years, the group has donated nearly $30,000 to Marion County Ministerial Alliance from donations and proceeds from auctions.
