Mary Wall
Mary Wall, 83, of Topeka, died Dec. 25, 2001, at a Topeka retirement center.
Born Feb. 23, 1918, at Schardau, Russia, she was the daughter of Gerhard and Anna (Harder) Klassen. She was a 1939 graduate of Whitewater High School and completed nurses training at Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1942 in Newton. She later attended Tabor College.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Newton where she taught children's Sunday school. After moving to Topeka in 1988, she attended Topeka Bible Church in Topeka.
She worked as a registered nurse in Hillsboro, Wichita, and California and later was employed at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She retired in 1980.
On June 30, 1946, she married Arthur B. Wall in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brother George Klassen and sister Helen Plank.
Survivors include son John Wall of Topeka; daughter Rosalie Wenger of Topeka; brothers Pete Klassen of Whitewater and Bennie Klassen of Newton; sisters Annie Plank and Wanda Plank both of Wichita; and granddaughters Rebekah, Renae and Elena Wenger.
Memorial services were held Friday at the Southern Hills Mennonite Church in Topeka. Private burial services were at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
A memorial has been established at Bethel College School of Nursing in North Newton.
