McCarty, Dirks re-elected
Preliminary results indicated that Hillsboro City Councilman Byron McCarty retained his seat in Monday's election.
Incumbent McCarty was challenged by candidate Martin Rhodes for the second ward seat but was overwhelmingly re-elected. McCarty had 132 votes and Rhodes had 16.
Councilman Shelby Dirks was the only candidate for the first ward seat and received 66 votes.
Marion County Commission will verify the election results at Monday's commission meeting.
