Medication seminar will be held April 14 years ago
A free seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14 at Marion Senior Center that will provide information about medications, food and drug interactions, Medicare, and other current health topics.
The seminar was announced during the March 18 meeting of Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc. Sessions are designed for senior citizens, case managers, caregivers, volunteers, and other senior care professionals.
A free meal will be provided for participants and reservations are required by April 12 by calling Marion County Department for Elderly, (620) 382-2942.

— A 1998 Dodge van owned by Goessel Senior Center was sold by the center because it could no longer afford insurance coverage.
— Gene Andersen was recognized for his service as Marion County silver-haired legislator for the past six years. The board welcomed Howard Collett as the newly-appointed legislator.
Silver-haired legislators, representing 18 counties located in North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, will meet April 7 in Abilene to discuss a fall session.
— Robert Carlton, administrator of Central Home Care & Hospice of Newton, announced a live teleconference will be held from 12:15 to 3:30 p.m. April 20 at Krehbiel Auditorium, Bethel College campus.
The teleconference, "Living with Grief," deals with ethical decisions at the end of life. The conference is free and open to the public.
— Other upcoming events are National Volunteer Week April 17-23, and the governor's conference on aging services May 4-5 at Capitol Plaza Hotel and Manor Conference Center, Topeka.
— Elderly department secretary and transportation coordinator Lanell Hett reported 14 trips during March.
— Members of Certified Transit District 6 met March 3. Brett Rowe was introduced as the new program consultant for the district. Rowe will conduct on-site reviews in the coming weeks. Transportation policies and guidelines will be reviewed.
