Staff writer

Hillsboro Community Medical Center sponsored its second annual Memory Walk Saturday. The event is a fund-raiser to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

The walk took place at Tabor College Track, with four teams totaling 16 people participating. Teams were the Valley Volunteers from Valley United Methodist Church, Creative Memories, Memory Marchers from HCMC, and Legacy Park.

According to Marsha Setzkorn-Meyer, event planner and director of public relations and marketing, this year's participation and donations were down.

The 2004 Memory Walk raised more than $1,900. This year's event brought in $1,183.

Although Setzkorn-Meyer was disappointed in the turnout, she was pleased with support from local businesses. Prizes this year were donated by Country Salon, Creative Memories, and Country Haven Inn.
