Men's soccer team looks forward to a winning season
The 2004 Tabor men's soccer team expects to be much more competitive than last year's team.
"We have some strong recruits in and a solid group of returning players," said Lincoln Wulf, head men's soccer coach at Tabor College. "Ryan Kelley, Jon Adrian, and Grant Brubacher are returning All-Conference selections who will provide proven leadership for the team."
The team's biggest challenge this year will be to remain healthy, according to Wulf.
"We've got some depth in some areas," he said, "but with so many new and young players on the squad, it's important that our leaders stay injury free to provide team unity."
The goal this season for Tabor men is to finish in the play-offs, the top six- out-of-ten KCAC teams will make it in to the playoffs.
"If we can get there and maybe win a game or two, then I think we will have done very well and shown massive improvement over last year," said Wulf.
"Coming in late last year was really tough, especially with the schedule we had, playing six top 20 teams. Even so, we still had the bare bones of a good team and my goal in the off season was to plug the obvious holes and give us a little depth.
Most importantly I wanted to bring in players that had a commitment not just to soccer but to Tabor. Players
that would stick around as we try to rebuild, and I think I was successful in that regard."
Wulf says the team is still on the road to rebuilding and it will take some time, but expects this year to be a lot better than last year.
