Middle school girls are 1-2 at Marion

The Hillsboro Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team defeated Marion 26-9 Thursday Leading scorer was Kassi Luthi with 11 points. Ambi Humber scored five points; Candice Ediger and Sarah Heidel, four each; and Cassie Kroeker, two points. The eighth graders are now 3-2.

The seventh girls' basketball team lost to Marion 35-31. Leading scorer was Dakota Kaufman with 14 points. Samantha Soyez scored 10 points; Natasha Hollingshead, five; and Taryn Mayfield, two. The team is 4-1.

The C-team lost to Marion 26-23. Dianne Sanders led the team with eight points. Hollingshead and Sarah Jones each scored four points; Briana Loewen, three; and Shelby Koons and April Young, two points each. The team's record is 3-1.

Last Thursday, the eighth graders defeated Sterling 33-9. Heidel led the team with eight points; Kroeker, Tiffany Rooker, and Humber each scored six points; Luthi, five; and Jones, two.

The seventh graders defeated Sterling 32-23. Soyez and Kaufman led the team with 12 points each. Hollingshead scored four and Tara Heinrichs and Loewen scored two each.

The C-team defeated Sterling 24-22. Sanders had six points; Sarah Unruh and Hollingshead, five points each; Jones, four points; and Kaufman and Loewen, two each.
