Milferd Janzen
Milferd Janzen, 79, of Newton died April 3, 2003, at his home in Newton.
Born Sept. 19, 1923, at Goessel, he was the son of Dan R. and Tina (Schmidt) Janzen.
On May 23, 1948, at Goessel, he married Irene V. Voth. She survives.
He was a member of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton and a retired employee of Hay and Forage.
He enjoyed volunteering at Botanical Gardens in Wichita. He spent time gardening, fishing, and completing jigsaw puzzles. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. He was also an avid walker and exercise enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Rosella Jantz.
Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Ken Janzen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Bonnie Hanser of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ladene Herrick of Wichita; brothers, Art Janzen of North Newton and Floyd Janzen of Hesston; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at Faith Mennonite Church with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton. A graveside committal was held Monday morning at the cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas and the American Heart Association.
