Museums to host block party

The Hillsboro museums will host a community block party at the Schaeffler House Museum on July 3. The "Fourth of July Eve Celebration" will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The community is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic blankets, their children and pets, and join in the celebration on the east lawn of the Schaeffler House grounds along North Jefferson Street for an evening of patriotic fun.

The Schaeffler House will be decked out with red, white, and blue decorations and flags, and Uncle Sam will make a special trip to Hillsboro to join in the fun.

Children are invited to participate in a "Red, White and Blue" parade, with their decorated bicycles, tricycles, strollers, pets, and little red wagons.

After the parade a band will perform patriotic music on the Schaeffler House porch. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family. Grilled hot dogs and homemade ice cream will be available for sale on the back porch of the house.
