New bike, walking path connects subdivisions
Parents who live in Willow Glen should feel a little easier about their tykes on bikes from now on.
Last week, the city laid out a bike and walking path that extends along Ash Street from the entrance to Willow Glen to the entrance to Carriage Hills.
The path was constructed last week, as city crews cleared out a dirt base approximately six feet out from the west side of the road, said City Administrator Steve Garrett. An asphalt base was laid, and then a layer of recycled asphalt was placed on the top.
Once the Arts and Crafts Fair is over, the city will apply paint and markings to the path to clarify what it's used for, he said.
The path came at the request of area parents who were more than a little nervous about their children riding bicycles along the busy 13-mile road.
