As the golf season nears an end, Goessel High School golfers are getting ready to head back to Pretty Prairie for its regional golf tournament.

Nine teams will tee off at 9 a.m. Monday and the top three teams will move on to state, along with five highest individual scores that are not part of those three teams.

The Bluebirds were to compete Tuesday in the Heart of America tournament at Hesston, but scores were not available at press time.

Even though it rained the entire round, Goessel golfers picked up a fourth place team finish May 1 at Marion.

Coach Bontrager tried a new combination for his six varsity players and was pleased with the performance.

Senior Alex Drake came in with the Bluebirds' lowest score of 89. Nate Ensz and Cameron Voth each shot 92.

Hayden Goerzen hit a 94 in his first varsity event. Derek Brown shot a 99 and Sam Lehrman came in at 104.
