New official reports to Florence council
Florence City Council heard a report Monday night from new city superintendent Jeff Wagner, following his first day on the job.
Wagner said he noticed numerous small problems and uncompleted projects, as well as some obvious major issues that need to be addressed.
Wagner passed out sample copies of work orders, inventory control sheets, city-owned equipment lists, tool inventory, and time sheets for each job and employee.
He reviewed the purpose of each and told council members how he intended to use them.
In a related area, city councilman Randy Mills presented a summary of capital improvement projects and equipment reserves. He asked the mayor and other councilmen to review the information and be prepared to discuss it at the next meeting.
Mills stated he thought the city should strongly consider the purchase of culvert cleaning equipment given the chronic problem with drainage in the community.
Sarah Cope, Florence economic development chairman, announced that six Florence students in National Honor Society at Marion High School will be in Florence Thursday to work on community service projects. The students will be working from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. washing windows downtown, sweeping streets and sidewalks, pulling weeds, and picking up debris.
