The Durham community extends its sympathy to the Ben Goertz family. Memorial services were held on Monday afternoon at the Baptist church which was attended by a large crowd. He will be missed as he was a community leader, businessman, friend, and church leader and always had time for a friendly chat.
Lyle and Mona Rhodes, who had come for the Goertz memorial service, were Monday overnight guests of their cousin, Harry and Sheryle Rhodes.
Sharon Redger of Cimarron spent the weekend with her daughter and family, Kris and Mark Wiebe.
Lola Redger and Verla Redger of Hillsboro ate dinner out Sunday in Salina and went to visit their cousin, Hazel Burkle.
Harry and Lela Wedel attended the Sunday morning wedding of their granddaughter, Kristi Koehn, daughter of Kelly and Karleen (Wedel) Koehn to Cameron Unruh, son of Don and Sharon Unruh of Galva at the United Center Church near Galva. The rest of the Wedel family were also in attendance.
The Troy Schmidt family, former residents of this community, invited Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Rick and LaVae Koehn, Doug and Starla Koehn, Amy Koehn, and Lydia Toews to be their Sunday dinner guests. The Schmidts live near Galva now.
The Wendell Wedels, Greg Wedels, and Margaret Jantz of Burns, went to Clarksdale, Miss., this weekend. Wendell and the Greg Wedels returned late Sunday. They went to take Linda and Margaret there to be with their sister who was having surgery on Tuesday.
Ken and Sandy had as their Sunday dinner guests , James and Lillian Hiebert and Kevin, Irvin Isaac, and Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family.
Dora Unruh went to attend the Monday afternoon memorial services at the Alexanderwohl Church in Goessel for Albert Ratzlaff, who was her sister-in-law, Rosalie Duerksen's father.
