Many of the community were able to have family dinners this weekend. It's always good to have one's family or be together with friends as we celebrate Easter. It was a pretty spring day after a hard freeze early Sunday morning which was rather hard on early gardens and crops.
Saturday, the Dayton Unruh family got together at the Lehigh City building for a dinner. All were present except Tom and Sara Penner from Canada.
The Brad Dirks family and Melvin and Vera Dirks went to Texahoma, Texas, to spend the weekend with the Gavin Johnson family.
Guests for a barbecue Saturday evening at the Richard Dirks' home were the Doug Weinbrenner family and the Shon Buster family of Galva.
Wendell and Linda Wedel went to spend the weekend with their sister and family, Kathryn and Dale Schmidt, at Clarksdale, Miss.
Enjoying Sunday dinner at the home of Gerald and Eva Davis were Roy and Nadine Davis and Eileen and John and Ethel Steiner and Randall.
The Ron Unruhs entertained their family with a dinner on Sunday. Guests were Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin and Sarah, Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna, and David Enns. The afternoon was spent playing baseball and hunting for some Easter eggs.
Having Sunday dinner in the Ransom Wiebe home were the Merlin Wiebe family, the Mark Wiebe family, Kris' mother, Sharon Redger, of Cimarron, and the Jason Wiebe family.
Amy Koehn of Brooksville, Miss., was home for the weekend visiting her parents, Larry and Wanda Koehn. Sunday they were all dinner guests of Tim and Shelia Koehn.
Some relatives and friends that did not have family dinners got together Sunday at the school for dinner: Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and family, Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family, Richard and Charlotte Wiebe and family, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe, Teresa Wiebe, Wayne and Lora Lee Wiebe and Ross, and Henry Redger.
The Harry Wedels entertained their family for Sunday dinner. There were 36 present with 16 family members missing. In the evening, Harry and Lela were invited by their granddaughter, Kristi and Cameron Unruh, to a program at United Center Church near Galva.
Thursday evening, the Morning Star youth sang at the nursing homes in Hillsboro. Later that evening, they and their sponsors, Ken and Shelly Giesbrecht and Marcell and Wendy Unruh, had refreshments at the Harry Wedel home. The young folks brought the goodies to enjoy with everyone.
Marcella Unruh was an Easter dinner guest of Gerald and Debbie Unruh of Salina. Joining them were the Gene Unruh family and Glen Unruh and Marty.
On Wednesday, Palmer and Lucille Base attended the memorial services for Palmer's nephew, Earl Campbell. It was held at the Spring Valley Church near Canton. He was 68 years old and married to June Bergman, a former resident of this community.
On Easter Sunday, Palmer and Lucille Base attended church services with Merle and Pam Hartman at Wichita and were their dinner guests. On the way home, they stopped to visit at the home of her sister, Geneva Pryce.
