Night in the Barn is this weekend

The lion may not lie down with the lamb, but the pig will sleep with the goat at the annual "Night in the Barn" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 21 and 22 at the Maynard Knepp and Carol Duerksen farm near Goessel.
"I haven't seen this pig but they tell me she's big, friendly, and her best friend is a goat," said Ben Schmidt of rural Goessel.
Schmidt is the president of the Tabor-Goessel Youth Group, which is sponsoring the event. The living nativity features a barn and yard full of animals, caroling around a bonfire, and dramatic portrayals from the Christmas story.
"We've done this for six years now, and it's a highlight of our year," Schmidt continued. "It's our way of sharing the birth of Jesus with the community."
According to Schmidt, the goal of the come-and-go event is for people to come and experience a simple yet meaningful worship as they sing carols and hear the Christmas story in the barn setting. The event is a fund-raiser for the Tabor-Goessel youth group, and admission is a donation. Hot drinks will be available for a nominal fee.
To get to "Night in the Barn," go south out of Hillsboro 4 miles on Indigo Road, 3 west and 3/4 north. Signs will be posted on the corners.
