Members of Peabody-Burns Board of Education met April 24 for a special meeting and reviewed additional information regarding all-day kindergarten.
Venita Loewen and Mary Thiessen, kindergarten teachers for 2006-07 school year, and elementary school principal Ken Parry answered questions, shared schedules from other schools, and discussed curriculum with the board.
An option for half-day kindergarten will be given to parents.
No final decision was reached.
There was no action on an agenda item entitled "motion and resolution in regard to non-renewal."
The board did accept resignations from the following district employees: Angelika Decker, math instructor and junior high student council sponsor; Gene Green, alternative action project director; Sonya Roberts, agriculture education instructor and FFA sponsor; Michael Scott, assistant high school girls' basketball coach and junior class sponsor; Sarah Spencer, science instructor; and Anthony Zappone, Spanish instructor, head cross country coach, and assistant high school track coach.
Acceptance of the resignations was unanimous.
The board entered two executive sessions for the purpose of discussing personnel. The superintendent and high school administrator were included in the executive session.
No action was taken on return to open meeting.
Negotiation team members reviewed current negotiation progress with board members in open meeting. Although called for on the agenda, an executive session was not required.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 8 in the central office.
