Nona Dauber

Nona Marie Dauber, 92, died Nov. 15, 2003, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Born July 11, 1911, at Burns, she was the daughter of Luther Clark and Mary Jane "Jennie" (McKittrick) Sayre.

She married Ernest "Boots" Dauber in 1929 in El Dorado. She and her husband, Boots, owned and operated several Burns businesses including Boots' and Nona's Corner Café and Dauber Truck Garden.

She lived in Burns most of her life until moving to Florence in 1994, then to Marion in 1995.

A devoted wife and mother, she was a member of Burns United Methodist Church. For 75 years she helped organize and was active in the Burns Chapter of Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boots; her sister, Mildred; and a daughter, Hazel Dauber Dixon.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Norene Dauber of Hutchinson; a sister, Laura Parks of Cottonwood Falls; a son-in-law and wife, Ralph and Elizabeth Dixon of Lee's Summit, Mo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion, with Pastor Larry Timm officiating.

The Burns Eden Mennonite Men's Quartet will sing "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers are Bill Dauber, Jim Dauber, Blake Dixon, Mike Dixon, Chris Strait, and Ryan Strait.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Burns.

A memorial fund has been established with St. Luke Living Center.
