Northview celebrates 50th anniversary years ago
Northview Developmental Services will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sept. 23-26. Northview is also the Community Developmental Disabilities Organization for Marion and Harvey counties.
"We are proud to be among the enduring organizations that have had the acumen to thrive through half a century's worth of changing climates," said Stan Zienkewicz, president-CEO of NDS.
"Our 50-year history is testament to Northview's expert understanding of those with disabilities and a succession of smart business decisions, as well as the commitment and dedication of our 200 staff," Zienkewicz said.
Activities planned for the celebration include a Good Neighbor banquet held at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
A Focus on our Founders dinner and program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Newton's VFW. Also two staff training sessions will be held at Bethel College in North Newton for local professionals.
Saturday, a Community Education Day will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bethel College.
Workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Speakers will include Connie Zienkewicz, Tom Laing, Ron Willis, Walter Kisdthardt, Diana Caseboldt-Hayes, and Carole Hull.
Also scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday will be a Resource Fair co-sponsored by Northview CDDO and Harvey County Transition Council.
Guided tours of select NDS sites will be available from noon to 3 p.m. A financial planning seminar will be from 1-3 p.m.
Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. a stakeholders picnic will be held at Athletic Park in Newton.
