Who would have thought, that after having several weeks of extremely warm weather and everything greening out to a beautiful countryside that we would have such very cold temperatures and snow, snow, snow? There was about six inches of snow by Friday morning. It made the crops, fruit trees, and flowers look pretty sad. But we live in Kansas and most anything can be expected. Only time will tell how much damage there will be.
Friday evening guests of Roy and Nadine Davis were Rick and LaVae Koehn, Katie Unruh, Denise Koehn, and Julie Koehn of El Campo, Texas. They enjoyed refreshments in honor of Rick's birthday. These girls were overnight guests of Rhonda and Eileen.
Wendell and Linda Wedel left early Friday morning for Clarksdale, Miss., to spend the weekend visiting her sister, Kathy and Dale Schmidt. They returned home Monday.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Kris Wiebe, Lisa Redger, Lea Isaac, and Betty Wiebe were in Cimarron Wednesday for the funeral services of LaVeta Koehn, 77.
Friday guests at the home of the Mark Unruhs were Barb's nephew, Shane and Kara Stutzman and Seth of Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Dayton Unruh family hosted a Joel Unruh family reunion Saturday and Sunday at the Cottonwood Grove School. There were about 70 in attendance. Some places represented were Ohio, Texas, Alberta, and western Kansas. Overnight guests of the Larry Koehns were Dan and Mary Holdeman and her uncle, Dave Decker of Detroit, Texas. Dale and Lorna Giesbrecht of Geiger, Alberta, were additional Saturday night guests.
The Ron Unruhs hosted an Easter dinner Saturday evening at their home. Guests were Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Mark and Barb Unruh and Sarah, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matt, Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna, Lisa Enns of Manhattan, and David and Ashley Enns and girls of Whitewater. Only Katelin Unruh was missing as she went with Hesston College on an extended weekend choir tour. After supper the family had their annual Easter egg hunt even though the weather was quite cold.
The Harry Wedel family got together Sunday for an Easter dinner at the Wedel home.
Sunday dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Ken and Sandy Wiebe, the Doyle Wiebe family, Calvin Wiebe family, Wayne Wiebe family, and Richard Wiebes and boys.
Easter Sunday dinner guests of Rick and LaVae Koehn were Roy and Nadine Davis and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Koehn, Tim and Heidi Koehn, and Lavina Koehn of Burns.
Sunday dinner guests of Jason and Sheri Wiebe were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Mark and Kris Wiebe and family, Byron and Rebecca Thomas, and the couple who works for them.
Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and Heath and Ruston and Lydia Dirks spent Easter Sunday with Cheryl's mother, Verna Smith at Hutchinson. Others joining them were Monty and Bonnie Smith, Molly and Barbie, Sheldon Smith, Brian and Cameron, and granddaughters Katie and Sarah. Later, Bruce and Cheryl went to visit Melvin Dirks at Newton Medical Center. Melvin is slowly improving.
Lola Redger met Ray Redger, Kyle and Tressa and Lisa Redger in Newton Easter Sunday and they all went to Butler, Mo., to spend the day. They visited Lola's sister, Joan Unruh and later were dinner guests of Joan's daughter and family, DeVern and Barbara Koehn at their home.
Marcella Unruh went to Salina Easter Sunday and attended church with the Galen Unruhs and Gene Unruhs. Later they joined the Gerald Unruhs for dinner at the Pizza Hut.
