There was so much unsettled weather this past week that one was uneasy about leaving home to go places. About two or three inches of rain fell. Streams and ponds are getting full and there is much runoff. Farmers are waiting to get in the fields to plant spring crops.
Richard and Kathy Dirks went Sunday to the home of Shon and Kim Buster near Galva to help twin grandchildren, Peyton and Cole celebrate their fifth birthdays.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went to Hillsboro Tuesday evening to visit Melvin and Vera Dirks. They visited Duane and Louise Ratzlaff and Rayletta Wednesday.
Ken and Sandy Wiebe invited the Doyle Wiebe family and Teresa Wiebe for supper Sunday. They celebrated Ryan's third birthday.
Sunday dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Henry Redger, Irvin Isaac, Troy and Marla Wiebe and family, and Ken and Shelly Giesbrecht.
The Larry Koehn family went to Haviland Saturday to help his sister and hsuband, Howard and Iris Eck clean up at their home after receiving damage Friday night from the tornado. A large group from the Morning Star Church went to Greensburg Saturday to help with cleanup on farms south of town. Many homes there were destroyed, as well as others that received major damage. Of about 20 homes, 10 were totally destroyed and the rest severely damaged.
Bruce and Cheryl Dirks visited her mother, Verna Smith near Hutchinson Sunday evening.
The Morning Star Youth planned to have a picnic Sunday evening at Marion Reservoir but because of inclement weather, it was held at the Unruh home near Canton.
Sunday dinner guests of Harry and Lela Wedel were the Doyle Wiebe family, Melvin and Vera Dirks, Marci Salisbury, Dianne Wedel, and Kendra Smith.
Sunday supper guests of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe were the Merlin Wiebe family, Mark Wiebe family, Jason Wiebe family, Bryan and Rebecca Thomas, Anthony and Beth Wiebe, Kendall and Susie Wiebe, and Lisa Redger. They celebrated recent birthdays.
Harry and Sheryl Rhodes were Sunday dinner guests of the Delton Nikkels at Inman. Supper guests of the Rhodes' were Wendell and Linda Wedel and Greg and Charlene Wedel and family.
Roy and Nadine Davis, Rhonda and Eileen were Sunday dinner guests of Marge Jantz and Lena Koehn at Newton. Other guests were Richard and Agnes Jantz of Fairview, Arnold and Naomi Koehn of Newton, and Roger and Geneva Koehn of Burns.
Clayton and Betty Wiebe visited Helen Wiebe at Moundridge this past week.
Katelin Unruh came home for the summer this weekend from Hesston College. She will spend the summer helping on the farm.
