Longtime resident of this community, Lenora Goentzel, 88, died May 22 at Parkside Homes. Services were held Friday morning at Trinity Mennonite Church of Hillsboro. Friends and relatives from here attended. Burial was held at Peace Valley Cemetery.
On Saturday evening, Richard and Kathy Dirks and Ron and Dora Unruh were some of those who went to the Jesters Award program at Century II in Wichita. The Dirks' granddaughter, Audrey Weinbrenner, performed a number. The Unruhs' grandson, Darren Enns, performed his solo with a group of young men from USD 410. Enns and the others received awards. These all were numbers from the musical "Shenandoah" that was performed in the fall. This is quite an honor.
Wendell and Linda Wedel spent a few days with Linda's sister, Kathy Schmidt in Clarksdale, Miss., this past week as Kathy is critically ill.
Sunday dinner guests of Harry and Lela Wedel were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Terry and Barb Hiebert and family, and Rick and LaVae Koehn.
The following went to Newton Thursday evening to be supper guests of Lena Koehn: Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family, Dalton and Lorna Weibe and Kyran, Tim and Shelia Koehn and family, and Lena's brother, Gerald and Marge Koehn from Georgia.
Lola Redger, accompanied by Verla Redger, went to Newton Wednesday evening for the promotion of Lola's granddaughter, Tressa Redger, from the eighth grade.
Sunday dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Zeiset, Wayne Wiebe family, Mitch Unruh family, Nelson Wiebe family, and Stuart Isaac family. The Zeisets are cousins of Lora Lee and Carol.
Linda Wedel's sister, Kathy Schmidt, died Friday evening at Clarksdale, Miss. The Wedels with Travis and Connie Becker and Garret left Saturday afternoon for the funeral services which were Monday morning.
