The Isaac Dirks annual family reunion was hosted Sunday by the Irvin Dirks family at the Durham Community Center. Those who attended from here included Richard and Kathy Dirks, the Harry Rhodes family, Darrel Rhodes family, Larry Koehn family, Marcel Unruh family, Mitch Unruh family, and Bruce Dirks family. There were about 90 relatives who enjoyed the day renewing friendships with lots of visiting.
The Mark Wiebe family, Jason Wiebe family, and Bryon and Rebecca Thomas were Sunday dinner guests of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe.
Enjoying a picnic supper Saturday evening at the Troy Wiebe home were Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann, Wendell and Linda Wedel, and Greg and Charlene Wedel and family. They celebrated Charlene's birthday.
Roy and Nadine Davis and Terry and Barb Hiebert took a group of young people to Greensburg Saturday to help pick up debris in the fields. Some of the women went to help serve lunch to the workers.
Bruce and Cheryl Dirks attended the Conrad Holdeman family reunion Sunday at Garden View School near Halstead. Later that afternoon they went to Greensburg to visit her uncle and aunt, Harlan and Jean Yost, who lost their home in the tornado. They temporarily live in Haviland but hope to move into a small house near Greensburg that was not damaged.
Wendell and Linda Wedel went to Moundridge for Sunday dinner with Amanda and spent time visiting with her.
Palmer and Lucille Base attended a Base family reunion Sunday.
May 30-June 5
The community extends its sympathy to the family of Carolyn (Decker) Duggan. She died Thursday at the age of 67. Memorial services were held Tuesday morning at Hutchinson. Burial was at Tampa that afternoon. Quite a few relatives and friends from here attended. She was the sister of Jaraine Redger.
Guests of Tim and Shelia for Sunday dinner were Ken and Sandy Wiebe, Scott and Tami Koehn and Riley, Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, and Lisa Redger.
Visitors of Harry and Lela Wedel Sunday evening were Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and family.
Lillian Wiebe and Carol Ann Unruh were Sunday dinner guests of the Merlin Wiebes.
Ken and Sandy Wiebe, Lillian Wiebe, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Rick and LaVae Koehn were Friday evening guests of family members at Moundridge Manor for an ice cream social.
The Ron Unruhs, Mark Unruhs, and Warren Unruhs attended some of the baseball games this past weekend at Salina where Nathan Unruh and his team from Hillsboro played in a tournament.
Larry and Wanda Koehn spent about a week visiting Wanda's sister, Starla and Richard Harms at Liberty, Ky. Amy Koehn had come to Kansas and went to Kentucky with them and then Larry and Wanda took her back to Brooksville, Miss., and spent some time with her there.
Ransom Wiebe returned home Monday evening after spending 10 days conducting meetings in Kentucky.
Palmer and Lucille Base visited Friday evening at the home of Greg and Charlene Wedel and family. The Bases visited Sunday with Nathan and Myrtle Wedel at Sterling House, Abilene.
Richard and Ruth Thayer from Oklahoma were in the area over Memorial Day weekend and Palmer and Lucille Base visited with them.
Larry and Wanda Koehn and Titus and the Terry Hiebert family were Sunday supper guests of Doyle and Kara Wiebe.
Lillian Wiebe was among those who were Sunday supper guests of the Clayton Wiebes.
