Northwest of Durham: Area farmers putting up alfalfa and hay

Durham correspondent

The order of the day this week has been putting up alfalfa and prairie hay. Part of the area received a shower of 60 hundredths to 1.25 on Tuesday afternoon, but the northern part of the community didn't receive any. It would be nice to have some rain for the fall crops and to cool off.

Guests for Sunday dinner at the home of Calvin and Janene Wiebe were Clayton and Betty Wiebe, John and Ethel Steiner and Randall, and Dalton and Lorna Wiebe.

Matthew Hiebert was a guest of his grandparents, Ron and Dora Unruh, from Wednesday evening to Friday. Nathan and Kyle Unruh came over on Thursday and Nathan came again on Friday to play ball, etc. On Thursday, they also helped Grandma put up some apples and enjoyed supper together.

Friday, Nadine Davis and Rhonda and Eileen went to Moundridge Manor to eat dinner with Amanda Wedel.

Invited Sunday dinner guests of Terry and Barb Hiebert were Roy and Nadine Davis, Rhonda and Eileen, Irvin Isaac, Henry Redger, and Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann.

Friday morning, Kyle Unruh joined other friends and helped Rebecca Kaufman celebrate her 6th birthday at Hillsboro Memorial Park. They all had lunch together.

On Thursday morning, Verla Redger, Darlene Unruh of Hillsboro, Lola Redger, and Marcella Unruh went to see the flowers at Gods' Garden near Solomon. They had dinner at Main Street Café in Durham.
