Northwest of Durham: Dirks reports on China trip

On Tuesday, Amanda Wedel invited her children over for supper to enjoy together. They were Roy and Nadine Davis and girls, Wendell and Linda Wedel and Connie, and Greg and Charlene. This was also to help Nadine celebrate her birthday which was Jan. 22.

Guests in the Doyle Wiebe home for Sunday dinner were Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Warren and Jane Unruh and Monica, and Dave and Chris Redger and family, and Chris' sister, Bonnie Janzen, from Canada.

On Saturday afternoon, Ron and Dora Unruh attended the funeral services for Mary Ratzlaff at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel.

Dinner guests of Harry and Lela Wedel on Sunday were Darrel and Donita Rhodes and Tammy and Tyson, Chris and Stephanie Becker of Galva, Wendell and Linda Wedel, Amanda Wedel, and Lisa Redger.

Richard and Kathy Dirks celebrated Richard's birthday Thursday evening by eating out at Main Street Café.

Having Sunday dinner at the Larry Koehn home were Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family, Roy and Nadine Davis and family, and Martha Unruh and Carol.

Sunday, Palmer and Lucille Base went to Wichita to visit a friend, Bob Wrestler, from Chanute, who had bypass surgery at the Heart Hospital.

On Wednesday, Clayton and Betty Wiebe took Bruce and Cheryl Dirks along and they went to Montezuma. They were supper guests of Betty's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Koehn. That evening Bruce gave a report on his trip to China this fall. After the meeting, they were guests for coffee at the Charles Schmidt home. On Friday, Bruce and Cheryl took Melvin and Vera Dirks along and were supper guests of Gavin and Donna Lee Johnson at Texahoma, Texas. Bruce gave another report on China that evening at the church there. They returned home late that evening.
