Northwest of Durham: Enns commissioned to serve in Seattle

Larry and Wanda Koehn, Denise and Titus, and Dalton and Lorna Wiebe went to Swan River, Manitoba, Canada, this past week returning on Tuesday. They went to visit their daughter and sister, Sara and Tom Penner. On the way they stopped to spend the night with Larry's sister, Jewel Warkentin and family, at Cartwright, Manitoba. Wanda reported they were harvesting wheat there now, their fields are much, much bigger than here, and it was hot and dry also.
The wedding of Daniel Becker and Stephanie Ratzlaff took place Sunday at the Lone Tree Church near Moundridge. He is the son of Howard and Charlene Becker and a nephew of the Dirks. Some of those attending from here were the Larry Koehn family, the Bruce Dirks family, and the Brad Dirks family.
Sunday, the Unruh families got together at the home of Jim and Brenda Enns to celebrate the August birthdays of David and Ashley Enns, Matthew Hiebert, and Daren Enns' September birthday. Guests were the Lonn Hiebert family, the Warren Unruh family, the Mark Unruh family, the Ron Unruhs, and Lisa Enns, as well as the honorees. Dora Unruh also attended the Sunday morning services at Trinity Mennonite Church that included a commissioning service for Lisa who will be leaving soon for one year of voluntary service in Seattle, Wash.
Ruth Thayer, Maggie and Paula hosted a tea on Friday afternoon at their home. Guests were Lucille Base, Paul Butterfield and girls, Yvonne Cushenberry, and Sharon Sorensen.
Guests in the home of Mike and Michelene Rhodes and Madison for Sunday dinner were Harry and Lela Wedel, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and Ross, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Mitch and Carol Unruh.
Saturday evening, Jason and Sheri Wiebe hosted a birthday lunch with cake and ice cream for their son Benji's sixth birthday. Guests were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, the Merlin Wiebe family, and the Mark Wiebe family.
Sunday afternoon, Jessie Schroeder of Baldwin visited her grandmother, Marcella Unruh.
Wednesday evening, Lola Redger and Verla Redger were Sunday dinner guests of Darlene Unruh at her home in Hillsboro.
Saturday evening, Marcella Unruh and Lola Redger went to visit Verna Decker and her house guest, Delphie Tiesen.
Sunday evening, Palmer and Lucille Base visited Marlin and Hilma Bartel at Lehigh.
