Northwest of Durham: Memorial services held at Central Heights

The Central Heights Mennonite Church welcomes anyone to their Sunday services which will include worship services in the morning followed by a fellowship meal at noon. A short Memorial service will be held after the meal, and then everyone is invited to visit the cemetery.

Friday evening, Sarah Unruh joined other friends, Briana Loewen, Andrea Bartel, Mieka Serene, and Candace Weinbrenner at the home of Dakota Kaufman for a camp out. This was to help Dakota celebrate her birthday. Bur since the weather was so cool, they had most their activities and sleep over in the house.

Dora Unruh recently attended the spring musical program at Peabody. Matthew Hiebert, a grandson, had a part in the program.

The Cottonwood Grove Christian School had their closing program on Friday evening. A picnic dinner and an afternoon of games and activities were enjoyed by children, parents, and patrons on Saturday. And so completes another year of school for the children. The graduates were Arlyn Wiebe and Chad Ensz.

Last Sunday, the Clayton Wiebes, the Nelson Wiebe family, and the Wayne Wiebe family enjoyed a picnic dinner at Marion Park.

Late Thursday, the Ransom Wiebes went to Garden City to be with Claude Unruh and returned Friday. Gary Unruh also went to spend some time with his father. Claude is still seriously ill but was moved back to Bethel Home on Saturday.

Roy and Nadine Davis and family, Mark and Kris Wiebe and family, Jerold and Rhonda Koehn and family, and Harlan and Sherry Koehn went to a basket dinner on noon Sunday hosted by the Alexanderfeld Church near Hillsboro for teacher, Erica Schmidt and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Schmidt and family of Montrose, Colo.

Wendell and Linda Wedel went to the Moundridge Manor on Sunday to spend the day with Amanda Wedel. They enjoyed listening to the services in the morning and then had dinner with her. Connie Wedel joined them for dinner as she was working Sunday.

Attending the Saturday evening wedding of Amy Eitzen and Dean Suderman at the Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro were Mike and Mich Rhodes and Madison and Richard and Kathy Dirks.

Sunday afternoon, Clayton and Betty Wiebe went to visit Helen Wiebe at the manor in Moundridge. Saturday evening supper guests of the Wiebes were the Lonnie Schmidt family, Erica Schmidt, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and Sara Koehn.

Some of those who went to commencement Sunday afternoon at the Hillsboro High School were Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah and Richard and Kathy Dirks. The Dirks' grandson, Tyler Weinbrenner, was a graduate, and they also went to his reception afterward.

Sara Koehn, who spent about a year teaching missionary children in Zimbabwe, returned home Thursday afternoon. That evening, the Larry Koehn family, Tim and Sheila Koehn and Travis and Sharon Koehn and family were supper guests of Dalton and Lorna Wiebe.

Harry and Sheryle Rhodes had as their Sunday dinner guests Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, Mike and Mich Rhodes and Madison and Dave and Chris Redger and family.

The Dayton Unruh family had a belated Mother's Day get together Sunday at the Warren Unruh home in Lehigh. Larry Koehn and families from here were there. They also welcomed Sara back from Africa.

Amy Koehn, who had worked for seven years at Moundridge Manor, took a leave for a year and is working in Mississippi taking care of an elderly couple.

Ron and Dora Unruh enjoyed a dessert bar night Monday evening with Wes Unruh and residents of hall C at Parkside Home. This was to celebrate Older Americans Month.
