Northwest of Durham: Morning Star attends wedding via phone

On Sept. 22, all the children and most of the grandchildren got to together at the farm home of Gene and Jarine Redger for a basket dinner to help Gene celebrate his birthday.
The Morning Star congregation had a basket dinner together on Sunday. They listened to the marriage services by phone of Marcel Unruh and Wendy Classen that took place at Settler, Alberta, Canada. The reception was good, and everyone could hear well.
Sunday afternoon, Harry and Verna Decker and Ben and Lenora Goentzel were among those that visited Elmer Decker at Newton Medical Center. Elmer had major surgery on Friday and is seriously ill.
On Wednesday evening, Larry and Wanda Koehn, Denise and Titus, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family, and Amy Koehn were all supper guests of Tim and Shelia Koehn.
Sunday supper guests of Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes were Roy and Nadine Davis and family, and Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family.
Richard and Kathy Dirks attended on Sunday the first Tobias Unruh family reunion at Clovercliff Ranch. There were about 38 cousins in attendance.
Velma Johnson from British Columbia, Canada, arrived by plane at the home of her sister, Lola Redger, on Sept. 10. She returned home on Oct. 2. During this time they were busy visiting and doing a lot of interesting things. Several of the important activities were on Sept. 21 and 22. They went to attend their Nightengale family reunion at Camp Y'Shea near Lawton, Okla. This was very special to get together with their brothers and sisters and their families. They spent until Tuesday visiting with relatives near Carienge, Okla.
This past weekend Velma, Lola, and Lisa Redger went to Dolton and Freeman, S.D., to visit the home place of Lola and Velma's grandparents, the Scharteners. They attended church with cousins from the area and enjoyed a basket dinner together. They returned home on Monday evening.
Ron and Dora Unruh and Ken Pankratz attended the memorial services Monday forenoon for their uncle Harry Pankratz at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
