The upcoming marriage of LaVae Davis to Rick Koehn was announced at the Morning Star Church on Sunday. Parents of the couple are Roy and Nadine Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Koehn of Burns. The wedding will take place on Dec. 7. Congratulations!

Last Sunday dinner guests of Richard and Charlotte Wiebe were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Brad and Joyce Dirks and family, and Henry Redger.

On Thursday, Dora Unruh, Brenda Enns, and Deb Hiebert flew to Seattle, Wash., for several days to visit Lisa Enns who is doing voluntary service there. The weather in Washington was nice and actually no rain. The group visited Pike Place Market which is on the water front and sells most everything — crafts, fresh fruits, vegetables, any kind imaginable, fresh fish, foods of all kind, etc.; Space Needle; the ferry to Bainbridge which was enjoyable; Snoqualmie Falls; The Cheese Cake Factory, where Lisa works; and the church which supports the Unit were some of the highlights. The city is very congested with traffic and lots of people different than the open spaces of Kansas and a fast pace of life.

On Nov. 7, Palmer and Lucille Base went to the Union Rescue Mission for their annual banquet. Gracia Burman was the speaker that evening to a sell-out crowd.

Wednesday evening supper guests at the Clayton Wiebe home were Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and Ross, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family and Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family. This was to celebrate the second birthday of twins, Dallas and Dayna Wiebe, whose birthday was Nov. 14.

Sunday dinner guests of Roy and Nadine Davis were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Koehn, Rick and Tim of Burns, Gerald and Eva Davis, Amanda Wedel, Wendell and Linda Wedel and Connie, Greg and Charlene Wedel, and Luvina Koehn of Burns.

On Monday, Lucille Base was a dinner guest in the home of Mary Ediger of Newton. This was a get together of 10 girls that were classmates at Goessel High School.

Sunday, Ron and Dora Unruh hosted the Duerksen pre-Thanksgiving dinner at the church fellowship hall. Attending were Rudy and Eulaila Schroeder, Milt and Alice Duerksen, Marvin and Rosalie Duerksen, and Sandy, Brendon Nafziger family, the Jim Enns family, the mark Unruh family, the Lon Hiebert family, the Marlo Duerksen family, and the Warren Unruh family.

Sunday dinner guests of Harry and Sheryle Rhodes were the Troy Schmidt family, the Doyle Wiebe family, the Wayne Wiebe family, and Lillian Wiebe.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks went to visit Helen Wiebe, Amanda Wedel, and Esther Unruh at the Moundridge Manor.

Lola Redger, Marcella Unruh, Darlene Unruh, and Verla Redger had dinner together at the Tampa Café on Sunday. Later, they went to visit Orville and Delores Richert at their home.

The Merle Deckers hosted the Harry Decker family for a pre-thanksgiving gathering on Sunday at noon at the Methodist church in Hillsboro. Most of the entire family was present.

The Central Heights Mennonite Church will host an early Christmas program with Bob and the Boys bringing an instrumental program Sunday evening at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30. Mark your calendar to come and enjoy an evening of music and fellowship to start the holiday season. Everyone is welcome.

We received a nice needed rain early Monday ranging from .50 to over an inch. There was a lot of lightning and thunder and even some small hail reported.
