On Wednesday, Palmer and Lucille Base went to be supper guests of their daughter, Pam and Merle Hartman. They then spent the night at the Hilton before leaving very early Thursday morning for Pennsylvania. They went to Bellville, Pa., to attend the Friday wedding of Matthias Thayer, son of Richard Thayer, to Martha Karffman at the Pleasant View AM Church. They were house guests of the bride's aunt and uncle and then returned home late Saturday.
Marcella Unruh was a Thanksgiving dinner guest of Gene and Sue Unruh of Gypsum. Most of the family of the local area were able to attend.
The Unruh family got together Thursday for Thanksgiving at the Ron and Dora Unruh home. Guests were Wesley Unruh of Parkside, Arvid Unruh of Brandon, Fla., who spent about a week visiting in the area, Jr. and Shirley Unruh of Hutchinson, Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin and Sarah, and Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan and Kyle. Later in the evening after a light lunch, the Ron Unruh family celebrated November birthdays. David and Ashley Enns of Wichita were late afternoon evening visitors.
This week, the Church of God in Christ Mennonite had a worldwide conference held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the coliseum in Wichita. The local Morning Star Church was a part of it, and many attended all or part of the different services. Also, there were many house guests in the homes in the area, and I will not be able to name all of them. Many family members from a distance came and visited home folks and friends.
Guests of the Larry Koehns were Galen and Marilda Koehn of Brooksville, Miss., Tom and Sara Penner of Swan River, Manitoba, Canada, and Amy Koehn left Monday and Tuesday who had also come for her grandmother's memorial service the previous Saturday. Nita Burns of Lobelville, Tenn., a friend of Sara's was also a guest in the Koehn home. Sunday dinner guests of Larry's were Allen and Heather Martin of Pennsylvania and the Tom Koehn family.
The Ruben Mandel family from Alberta were some of the house guests at the Merlin Wiebe home this week. Sunday evening guests of the Wiebe's were Merlin's sister, Jan and Russell Koehn and Deanne of California.
Guests in the Ken Wiebe home were Sandy's uncle and aunt Fred and Barb Mininger, Simon and Wanita Bender, both from Wisconsin. A lady friend that Teresa met in the Dominican Republic was also a guest.
Sunday evening, the Isaac Wiebe family had a gathering as well as the local youth to visit with relatives.
Monday supper guest of the Larry Koehns were Errol and Mae Wedel and Loretta Wiebe of Phoenix, Ariz., Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Travis and Sharon Koehn and family.
Richard and Kathy Dirks had Doug and Colleen Weinbrenner and family and Shon and Kim Buster and family of Galva as their Friday evening Thanksgiving dinner guests.
Longtime college classmates of Mark and Barb Unruh, Keith and Lois Landis and family of Sterling, Ill., were Friday luncheon guests of the Unruhs.
Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan and Kyle joined the Damian Ratzlaff family at the home of Jerry and Vi Dalke Saturday evening for a Thanksgiving family dinner.
Lola Redger had Ray Redger, Kyle and Tressa, Lisa Redger and Verla Redger as her Thanksgiving dinner guests Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Toews of Alberta, Canada, who came for the conference and to visit their daughters and families, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and Ross and Mitch and Carol Unruh, were all Sunday dinner guests of Harry and Sheryle Rhodes.
