Northwest of Durham: Redger celebrates 75th years ago

Durham correspondent

This community received an abundance of rain on Wednesday and Thursday. The totals varied from about four to at least nine inches of rain. There appears to be a lot of erosion to the land and the newly planted wheat, as the rain came very hard at times.

Those that went to the wedding of Marcel Unruh and Wendy Classen at Settler, Alberta, Canada, last weekend have all returned this past week. Harry and Lela Wedel and Harvey and Madelene Jantz made the trip together. The Merlin Wiebes and the Harlan Koehns went by plane. Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Mike and Michilene Rhodes, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe, and Ruthann Jantz went by van. Mitch and Carol Unruh and the Warren Unruh family also went. Jeff Ratzlaff drove up with Marcel and then returned with the Harry Rhodes. Harry reported that it was a good and beautiful trip of about 26 hours. It is beautiful cattle country with a lot of ranches and open spaces. While there they had their first snow fall, and they also encountered snow on the return trip at Casper, Wyo.
