Northwest of Durham: Residents celebrate Easter with family

On Thursday, Marcella Unruh and Priscilla Unruh went to Wichita to attend the funeral for Marcella's aunt, Teresa Goodwin, 95, at the Old Mission Funeral Home.

On April 10 and 11, Dora Unruh went to Hesston College to attend Grandparents' Day with her granddaughter, Lisa Enns. Everyone enjoyed lectures, tours, visiting with grandchildren and a banquet on Thursday evening.

Lavern and Lisa Litwiller and family of Murray, Ky., and Allen and Heather Martin spent the Easter weekend visiting their parents, the Bruce Dirks. On Saturday, relatives and friends had a basket dinner in their honor at the school. Then on Sunday, the Brad Dirks family, the Bruce Dirks family, and their house guests attended a family gathering hosted by Melvin and Vera Dirks at the Lehigh Senior Center for the Dirks families and the Smith families.

On Sunday, the Isaac Wiebe family had a dinner at the school. Special guests were Brent and Anne Mininger and family of Murray, Ky. They are the grandchildren of Helen Wiebe. During their time here they were house guests of their uncle and aunt, Ken and Sandy Wiebe.

Having Easter dinner at the home of their parents, Ron and Dora Unruh, were Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin and Sarah, Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, and Kyle, and David and Ashley Enns of Wichita.

Guests for Sunday dinner of Roy and Nadine Davis were Gerald and Eva Davis, Amanda Wedel and John and Ethel Steiner.

The Harry Wedel families gathered at the Wedel home on Sunday for a dinner together.

Marcella Unruh spent Easter Sunday with her children in Salina. She attended church with them and was dinner guest in the Gerald Unruh home with the Gene Unruh family and Galen Unruh and friend Kris, Marty Unruh, and Francis Schuler joining them.

Sunday supper guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Brent and Anne Mininger, Calvin Wiebe family, Wayne Wiebe and son and Teresa Wiebe.

Claude Unruh formerly of this community is seriously ill in the Garden City Hospital where he has been a patient for the past 10 days. Ransom and Lillian Wiebe have gone to see him several times and stayed with him for a few days at a time. The Gary Unruhs have also spent time with him.

This area received a very beneficial rain on Friday and Saturday. There was from 1.60 to about two inches reported.
