Northwest of Durham: Residents go to receptions

The community wishes to extend their sympathy to the Claude Unruh family. He passed away on Tuesday at Bethel Home in Montezuma and was a former resident of this community. He reached the age of 93 years. Memorial services were held Saturday morning at the Morning Star Church where he was a pastor for many years.
Mike and Michelene Rhodes and Madison left on Friday to spend about a week visiting her parents, the Raymond Unruhs, at Macon, Miss.
Thursday evening, Ron and Dora Unruh attended the eighth grade promotion exercises at the Hillsboro school auditorium. Their grandson, Darren Enns, was a member of the class of 65 boys and girls. Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sara and Anita Unruh, Nathan, and Kyle also attended. Later, all were guests for refreshments at the Jim Enns' home.
On Sunday, May 18, Orville and Delores Richert went to Great Bend where they attended commencement exercises. Their granddaughter, Lindsey Goering, was a graduate. Later, they together with other relatives were guests in the Goering home for a reception in honor of Lindsey.
Marcella Unruh went to Southeast of Saline Thursday evening for the promotion exercises for the eighth grade students. Her grandson, Ryan Unruh, was in the class. She then went to Salina to spend the rest of the holiday weekend with Gerald and Debbie Unruh returning home on Sunday. Friday, she and the Gerald Unruhs went to Abilene where they met Gerald's, son-in-law, Mike Rayburn, who is stationed in Argentina and four friends who were in the area for business. It was enjoyable meeting them for dinner and a visit. Sunday evening, the Unruhs, Marcella and Gene Unruh all went to the cemeteries.
Sunday afternoon, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks went to visit her mother, Mrs. Glen Smith.
Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah attended the graduation ceremonies at Tabor College on Saturday morning. Her niece, Shawna Stutzman, was a graduate. Shawna's parents, who are Barb's brother and wife, Dwight and Deb Stutzman of Lititz, Pa., came on Friday. The Unruhs got to visit some with them on Saturday. The Stutzmans left for home early Sunday morning.
Guests for Sunday dinner at the home of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Mr. and Mrs. Conard Yost of Iroquois, S.D., Ken and Sandy Wiebe and Teresa, Larry and Wanda Koehn, Dara, Denise, and Titus.
Warren and Anita Unruh attended a reception Saturday noon for Audra Christensen at the home of Vi Klassen. Audra was a Tabor College graduate. She and her parents from Coffeyville are long time friends of the Klassen family.
