Northwest of Durham: Residents have basket dinner at Cottonwood Grove

The community wishes to extend its sympathy to the family of LaVerna Redger who passed away on Wednesday. Memorial services were Saturday morning at the Morning Start Church. All the children and grandchildren were present with only several great-grandchildren missing. The Norman Redgers from
Deridder, La., Jim Redgers of Dumas, Ark., Kathy Friesen of Bernie, Manitoba, and Donna Koehn of Moundridge and their families are the surviving children.
On Sunday, there was a basket dinner at the Cottonwood Grove School. Guests were the Henry Redger families, the Harry Wedels, the Harry Rhodes, the Warren Unruh family, the Merlin Wiebe family, the Ron Becker family, the Roy Davis family, Amanda Wedel, Marcel and Wendy Unruh, Greg and Charlene Wedel, the Darrin Rhodes family, and the Ken Giesbrecht family.
Sunday dinner guests of the Clayton Wiebes were the Nelson Wiebe family, the Calvin Wiebe family, the Travis Koehn family, and Wayne and Loralee Wiebe. This was especially to help their twin grandchildren, Dallas and Dayna Wiebe, celebrate their first birthday which was Nov. 14.
Wendell and Linda Wedel went to Mississippi to visit Dale and Kathryn Schmidt for the weekend and to help Linda's sister, Kathryn, celebrate her 50th birthday.
Renita Goertzen of Murray, Ky., was an overnight guest in the Roy Davis home. She came to visit Rhonda as she had taught with her in Minnesota.
Saturday evening, Ron and Dora Unruh attended the Hillsboro High School musical "Cinderella." Their granddaughter, Katelin Unruh, had a part in the play.
Harold Rhodes from Montezuma, whom many will remember, passed away on Sunday.
Ken and Sandy attended a cousin's wedding Sunday morning at the Garden View Church near Halstead.
Thursday evening supper guests of the Larry Koehns were uncles and aunts of Wanda. They were Dave and Della Becker of Scott City, Frank and Florine Koehn of Geiger, Ala., the Warren Unruh family, Dianne Unruh, Jessie and Susie, Martha Unruh and Carol. Della and Florine are sisters of Dayton Unruh.
Vivan and Betty (Redger) Koehn of Rocker, Mo., who had come for LaVerna Redger's memorial services, were Saturday overnight guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe.
Sunday dinner guests of Larry and Wanda Koehn were Martha Unruh and Carol, Dalton, and Lorna Wiebe.
