Northwest of Durham: Rhodes welcome first child

Congratulations to the new parents, Mike and Michelene Rhodes, on the arrival of their first child. A girl Madison Larae was born March 6 at Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce. Michelene's parents, the Raymond Unruhs from Macon, Miss., arrived on Saturday to help and get acquainted with their new granddaughter. The local grandparents are Harry and Sheryle Rhodes and great-grandparents, Harry and Lela Wedel.

Saturday breakfast guests of Palmer and Lucille Base were Merle and Pam Hartman of Andover.

Harry and Verna Decker celebrated their 27th anniversary Saturday when their family took them out for supper at the Carriage Crossing Restaurant in Yoder. Enjoying the supper together were the honorees, Gene and Jarine Redger, Earl and Sharon Decker of Newton, Merle and Kathy Decker of Hillsboro, Carolyn Duggan, grandchildren, Velora Redger, Ramie and Terry Sanford and Daniel, Vickie Brockman, Terva Crawford and friend, Steve Roberts. The waitress was Harry's great-granddaughter, Tina Stanford, who works there.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks invited Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Irvin Isaac, and Minister and Mrs. Dale Becker from Moundridge to be their Sunday dinner guests.

Rhonda Davis and Erica Schmidt left on Wednesday to spend until Monday in Minnesota visiting. Eileen Davis, Starla Koehn, Rayletta Ratzlaff, and Katie Unruh went to Fredonia Wednesday afternoon and returned on Monday. This was during the Cottonwood Grove School spring break.

Last Sunday dinner guests of Roy and Nadine Davis were Gerald and Eva Davis and John and Ethel Steiner and Rochelle, who was home during her spring break from school at Ulysses where she teaches.

Ken and Sandy Wiebe had as their Sunday dinner guests, Larry and Wanda Koehn and family, Martha Unruh and Carol, Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, and Nellie and Leann Penner of Hillsboro.
