Northwest of Durham: Thayers celebrate guest's birthday

On Tuesday, Jaranie Redger and four of her daughters, Valora, Vickie, Tamie, and Treva, and great-grandchildren Tylar went to Yoder to eat together at Carriage Crossing. After that they went to visit Carolyn Duggan at Hutchinson. She is improving after breaking her foot.

Harry and Verna Decker went to Enid, Okla., on Friday to attend the MCC Sale. Harry sang in the Mennonite Men's Chorus, who were part of the program on Friday evening before the sale on Saturday. They returned home late Friday.

Kara Wiebe's mother Mrs. Louis Warkentin from Pincher Creek, Alberta, is spending some time visiting at the Doyle Wiebe home.

Quite a few people from the churches here helped with the MCC meat canning this week at Hillsboro.

Harry and Lela Wedel went to the airport on Wednesday to get her brother Mr. and Mrs. Obed Jantz of New Plymouth, Idaho. They were house guests of the Wedels until Sunday evening when they took the Jantzes to spend until Wednesday at the home of Harvey and Madeline Jantz near Galva. On Sunday, the extended Jantz families had a basket dinner together at the school.

Sunday dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family, Mrs. Louis Warkentin, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe, Mrs. Sharon Redger of Ingalls and Lisa Redger. Mrs. Redger came Wednesday evening and spent time at the Mark Wiebe home, her daughter Kris and also with Lisa. She returned home on Sunday evening.

Palmer and Lucille Base were Friday supper guests of the Richard Thayer family together with Thad and Edna Thayer and family and their house guest Esther Heading, Edna's sister from Horseshoe, Fla.. The group had an early birthday celebration for Esther. From here, Esther left for a Bible camp in Pennsylvania. Maggie Thayer is spending this school year teaching in Minnesota.

This beautiful Sunday, shortly after noon, things were disrupted when Heidi Dirks was involved in a one-car accident on 330th. She was life-watched to a Wichita Hospital in critical condition and later died. The community wishes to show its concern and sympathy to the family.

Ron and Dora Unruh visited Marcella Unruh on Friday evening.
