Northwest of Durham: Unruhs attend eighth grade promotion

USD 410 eighth grade promotion Thursday evening was attended by Mark Unruhs, Juanita Stutzman Eichleberger, Ron Unruhs, Warren Unruhs, and Roy, Nadine, Rhonda, and Eileen Davis.

Sympathy is extended by the community to the family of Orville Richert, 78, who died May 25th in Salina. Survivors are Verlin and Edna Richert, Kris and Everett Jensen, Annette and Randy Goering of Great Bend, and Bentley and Connie of Abbyville. Services were held Saturday at First Mennonite Church with burial at Peace Valley Cemetery.

The family of Gene and Jaraine Redger were weekend guests at the family farm.

Harry and Sheryl Rhodes were Sunday dinner guests of Jason and Sheri Wiebe.

Wendell and Linda Wedel visited Monday afternoon with Amanda Wedel. They had supper with relatives that had come for the Tuesday funeral services of Virgil Wiggers at Moundridge. He is Linda's uncle.

Harry and Sheryl Rhodes, and Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and family, were Monday evening guests for a picnic supper at the Daryl Unruhs in Galva.

Junior and Shirley Unruh, and granddaughter Marissa Cook, were Monday dinner guests of the Ron Unruhs.

May 17-24

Many folks attended commencement exercises in different areas. Local graduates of Cottonwood Grove School eighth grade were Titus Koehn, Lance Wiebe, and Jessie Unruh. USD 410 held commencement Sunday afternoon where Katelin Unruh was one of 52 seniors to receive diplomas. Eighth grade promotion was held May 25 and Sarah Unruh and Dakota Kauffman will be among the 50 students who will be promoted.

Some of those attending Hillsboro's graduation were Ron and Dora Unruh, the Warren Unruh family, Mark Unruh family, Roy and Nadine Davis, Rhonda and Eileen, Rick and LaVae Koehn, and Jonas and Kim Frantz. Later in the afternoon, Katelin was honored with a reception at Trinity church. Irvin and Muriel Christiansen also attended in honor of their granddaughter, Laura Skiles.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks, Heath and Bethany attended the Friday evening graduation ceremony at Sugar Creek School. Ashley Dirks, daughter of Brad and Joyce Dirks, was one of the graduates.

Marcella Unruh accompanied Gene and Sue Unruh to Shawnee Mission for lunch at the home of Don and Marlene Sattelfield in honor of Dianne Schroeder. All attended commencement exercises at the University of Kansas where Dianne received her degree. Bob and Priscilla Unruh also were guests at the luncheon.

Congratulations to Anthony Wiebe and Beth Troyer, who will be married June 11 in Kidron, Ohio. Anthony is the son of Merlin and Karlette Wiebe. Ransom and Lillian Wiebe and Harry and Lela Wedel were Sunday dinner guests at the Wiebe home.
