The weather has been very hot, and the crops are suffering a great deal. The farmers have been busy putting up hay, and that job is about completed. Other activities are at a slow pace as the heat persists. I'm sure the cutting of corn for silage will begin in a day or so.
There was a Ratzlaff reunion on Saturday and Sunday. This included the extended family of Mrs. C.C. Wedel and her brothers and sisters. There was a bus tour which started in Hesston where the reunion headquarters were hosted by two Regier sisters.
On Saturday, they came to this area and viewed the C.C. Wedel home place, cemeteries and other spots of interest. They had a dinner catered by Main Street Café at the Durham Community Center. They then continued on to points of interest at Florence, Cedar Point, etc. More activities took place on Sunday. Harry and Lela Wedel were some that attended from here as well as others from Florida, California, and Colorado.
On Saturday, Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Clayton and Betty Wiebe and Ken Wiebe went to Moundridge Manor for the birthday celebration of Henry Penner who was 98.
Guests for Sunday dinner at the home of Harry and Sheryle Rhodes were the Larry Koehn family and the Travis Koehn family.
The wedding of Tim Koehn, son of Larry and Wanda Koehn, to Shelia Penner was announced at the Morning Star Church. The wedding will take place at St. Anne, Manitoba, on Aug. 18. Congratulations.

The Ron Unruh family was busy this weekend for the wedding activities of their grandson David Enns to Ashley Claassen. On Friday, Barb Unruh and girls, Anita Unruh and Deb Hiebert helped Brenda Enns prepare the rehearsal supper which friends served that evening at the Trinity Church. Those attending the supper included the Ron, Mark, and Warren Unruh families and the Lon Hiebert family, as well as others. The wedding took place at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Parkview Church in Hillsboro.
On Sunday, the Unruh families, as well as Junior and Shirley Unruh of Hutchinson, Arvid and Julie Unruh of Brandon, Fla., Dwight Unruh of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Don and Deb Birkey of Champaign,Ill., and the Lon Hiebert family, who had all come for the wedding, got together at the home of Jim and Brenda Enns, Lisa and Darren for a brunch. Later, some left for their homes, and the Ron Unruhs and Arvid Unruhs went to the A.E. Pankratz reunion at Newton.
