Northwest of Durham: Unruhs travel to Pennsylvania for weddings

Barb, Katelin, and Sarah Unruh left June 29 from the Kansas City airport and flew to Baltimore, Md., where they met Barb's brother, Curt Stutzman. They went to the Stutzman home in Harrisonburg, Va. They attended two weddings. Barb's niece, Shawna Stutzman married Matthew Yoder July 1 at Harrisonburg. The Yoders will make their home in California, and attend seminary there. On July 8, another niece, Aimee Stutzman married Phillip Kaufman at Allensville, Pa. The Kaufmans will remain in Harrisonburg where she will finish her nursing degree. Barb and her girls did some sightseeing of famous places in Washington, D.C., where it was very hot and busy with visitors. They spent a day at Virginia Beach, and also visited a brother, Dwight Stutzman and family at Lititz, Pa. The Unruhs returned July 9.

Lavern and Lisa Litwiller, Jared, Cherie, and Monty arrived Monday evening at the home of Lisa's parents, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks. They are visiting the Dirks while on furlough from their mission field in Russia. The Dirks, Litwillers, and Chris and Jodi Ratzlaff and boys were guests for a 4th of July wiener roast at the home of Ruston and Lydia Dirks.

Leonard and Deanne Litwiller of Murray, Ky., brought the Lavern Litwillers to Kansas. Leonard and Deanne were overnight guests Monday and Tuesday at the home of Roy and Nadine Davis. They had dinner Tuesday at the Davises and that evening were supper guests at the Eldon Wenger home in Hesston. Rick and LaVae Koehn also were guests.

Lola and Verla Redger went July 4 for a barbecue supper at the home of Ray Redger in Newton. The supper was prepared by Kyle, Ray's son. Cody, a friend of Kyle's, also was a guest. They watched fireworks at the park and enjoyed some at the Redger home.

Ken, Sandy, and Teresa Wiebe went Friday and Saturday to Oklahoma City for a Jantz reunion. Jantz is Teresa's grandfather's side of the family.

Allen and Heather Martin of Pennsylvania arrived Saturday at the home of Bruce and Cheryl Dirks. The Martins came home to visit the Litwillers, so they all could be together. They celebrated the ninth birthday of Jared Litwiller Saturday.

Sunday dinner guests at the home of Calvin and Janene Wiebe were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Melvin and Vera Dirks, and Mitch, Carol, and Deryk Unruh.

Tom and Sara Penner arrived Thursday at the home of Larry and Wanda Koehn. They came for the Sunday wedding of Tom's brother, Ryan Penner to Lori Nikkel at Inman. Lori taught school here at Cottonwood Grove several years ago. Larry, Wanda, Titus, and Travis Koehn, Sharon Koehn and family, Tim, Shelia, and Jared Koehn, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe, Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family, Greg, Charlene, and Caden Wedel, and Ken, Shelly, and Taylor Giesbrecht also attended the wedding.

Guests for Monday dinner at the Larry Koehn home were Tom Penner's parents, Dennis and Marilyn Penner of Swan River, Manitoba.

Supper guests on July 4 at the Ransom Wiebe home were Merlin, Karletta, and Janessa Wiebe, the Jason Wiebe family, Mark Wiebe family, and Brian and Rebecca Thomas.

Wendell and Linda Wedel, Harry and Lela Wedel, Duane and Louise Ratzlaff, and Jeff and Monica Ratzlaff were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Warren and Jane Unruh.

Ron and Dora Unruh attended Saturday and Sunday afternoon games of the Cal Ripkin all-star tournament at Peabody. Their grandson, Matt Hiebert, was pitcher for the Cottonwood Valley team. The team won Saturday afternoon, and their first game Sunday. Jim and Brenda Enns also attended Sunday afternoon.
