Northwest of Durham: Unruhs visit family in Lawrence

A welcome rain was received here this week. Most everyone reported close to 3/4 of an inch.

Tuesday evening, the Larry Koehns invited their children to be their supper guests. They were Dalton and Lorna Wiebe, Tim and Shelia Koehn, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family, and Amy Koehn.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks went to the church at Burns Sunday evening to give a report on China. Afterward, they were guests in the home of their uncle and aunt, Raymond and Helen Becker, for refreshments. Additional guests were William and Donna Koehn and Galen and Verna Becker.

Harry and Verna Decker attended the 95th birthday celebration Saturday afternoon for Elva Jantz. It was held at the Showalter Villa where Elva is a resident. She is doing quite well. A good number of people were there as well as her children to wish her well and enjoy the day with her.

Guests for Sunday dinner of Richard and Charlotte Wiebe were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes and Mike and Mich Rhodes.

Friday evening, the Harry Wedel family brought a basket supper to the home of Harry and Sheryle Rhodes in honor their dad's, Harry, birthday which was that day.

Sarah Unruh helped her friend Brianna Loewen celebrate her birthday Friday, and also was an overnight guest.

Nathan Unruh's eighth birthday, which was Feb. 14, was celebrated Sunday evening. Guests in the Warren Unruh home were Ron and Dora Unruh, Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin and Sarah, and Lisa Enns, and three of her girlfriends from Hesston College. A light supper of finger foods and visiting was enjoyed by all.

Last Sunday, Marcella Unruh attended church services with Gerald and Debbie Unruh in Salina. They then ate out and later returned to their home for visiting. Gerald and Debbie told about their recent trip to Argentina. They had gone to visit their children and family, Michael and Daphene Rayburn, Connor and Madison, who are stationed there.

Monday, Marcella Unruh and Priscilla Unruh spent the day by going to Lawrence. They visited Robyn Unruh at East Heights Elementary School where she is a special education teacher. They had dinner with her before returning home. They also stopped in Abilene where some antique shops were visited before concluding their day together.
