Durham correspondent

It's been vacation time for several families lately. But most of them said that they didn't escape too much of the heat.

Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah returned home on Thursday evening after being gone about nine days. They first went to Buhl, Idaho, to spend some time with her mother and brothers and sister. Then Friday they went to a camp and retreat center near Challis, Idaho, for a Stutzman family reunion for three days. Visiting some ranches in Wyoming and Montana was a highlight especially on a ranch that was featured in the Farm and Ranch Magazine. They also drove up to Billings, Mont., to visit the Randy Ediger family harvest crew. Randy is also a cousin. Some nice cool weather was enjoyed.

Sunday the Ron Unruhs attended the A.E. Pankratz family reunion at North Newton. Later that afternoon they visited D.A. and Erma Raber east of Newton.

Last weekend some that went to Cyrus, Minn., for the wedding of Tim Koehn and Heidi Toews were Roy and Nadine Davis, Rick and LaVae Koehn, Rhonda and Eileen Davis, and Katie and Susie Unruh. The wedding was on Sunday at Lake Haven Church. Tim is a brother of Rick.

Last Wednesday supper guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Harold and Loretta Yost of Iroquois, S. D., and Ron and Betty Klassen of Moundridge. Harold has been laying brick on Morning Star Church for about the last two weeks and expects to finish about Tuesday.

Thursday evening Roy and Nadine Davis took Gerald and Eva Davis to visit Amanda Wedel and enjoy the singing at Moundridge Manor.

Having Sunday dinner in the home of Bruce and Cheryl Dirks were Duane and Louise Ratzlaff and Rayletta, Ken and Sandy Wiebe, Sheryl Rhodes, and Harold and Loretta Yost.

On Saturday morning, Dora Unruh took her grandchildren out for their annual breakfast at the Main Street Café in Durham.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe spent Saturday and Sunday at Montezuma. They went especially to attend the Baltimore, Maryland, 1-W reunion at the school at Montezuma on Sunday. Ransom was a member of the unit in Baltimore in the early '50s. They also visited Leah Unruh at Bethel Home on Sunday.
