Nov. 21 LRP ushers in Christmas season years ago
Janice Porter of Hillsboro will help to usher in the Christmas season as she presents "Decorating for Christmas with Old Favorites" at 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Learning in Retirement program in Wohlgemuth Music Center at Tabor.
A native of Woodlake, Calif., Porter gained an appreciation for antiques as she helped her father with restoration projects and worked in an antiques store as a senior in high school. She and her husband, Bruce, moved to Hillsboro several years ago when he accepted the senior pastorate at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. She currently serves as store manager of Molly's on Main, Hillsboro.
In addition to the items Porter will bring for display, Learning in Retirement participants are encouraged to bring their favorite labeled Christmas items. Several participants will share the stories behind their Christmas decoration.
Older adults are invited to attend. Those who have never attended a Learning in Retirement program before are welcome and encouraged to attend free of charge. Registration will be available at the door.
