NW Durham: Community attends reception for Thayers
Durham correspondent
A large crowd attended the reception Sunday afternoon at the Central Heights Church for Richard and Ruth Thayer who were married recently in Minnesota. Congratulations to the couple, and we welcome Ruth to the community.
Sunday, some of those that visited Lucille Base at her home following the reception were Neal and Mae Gustafson of Midland, Minn., and Jeannine Thayer of Minnesota, John Yoder from Minnesota, Ruth Thayer's father, John and Esther Christener, Marilyn Christener, Maggie, Paula, and Alex Thayer. Most of these had come for the wedding reception. Lucille was unable to attend the Sunday reception since she has been a recent hospital patient.
The families of the Harry Wedels and Amanda Wedel had a basket dinner Sunday at the school. This was because the Harry Friesens of Bernie, Manitoba, Canada, and the Norman Redgers of De Ridder, La., came to be with their mother, LaVerna Redger, who had surgery last week at Newton Medical Center. LaVerna is doing quite well, and we hope she has a good recovery.
Bruce and Cheryl Dirks had as their Sunday dinner guests Brad and Joyce Dirks and family and Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family.
Sunday evening, Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, and Kyle went to the home of Damian and Amy Ratzlaff in Hillsboro to help AlexAnna celebrate her fourth birthday.
