NW of Durham: Basket supper honors visitors

A basket supper was held Wednesday at Cottonwood Grove School in honor of Stuart and Elaine Rhodes who were visiting in the area. The Rhodes were Saturday overnight guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe. Harry and Sheryle Rhodes joined the Wiebes and their guests for dinner Sunday after the Wiebes took them to Emporia to meet relatives. The Rhodes flew home Monday to Scio, Ore.

Marcella Unruh accompanied her son, Gerald, to Denver the weekend of Oct. 1. They visited Marcella's grandson, Shana Unruh.

Larry and Wanda Koehn became grandparents in recent weeks. A daughter was born to Tom and Sara Penner on Sept. 14 in Swan River, Canada. They named her Mollie. The Koehns traveled to Canada Sept. 27 and returned home Oct. 3. Dalton and Lorna Wiebe became parents of a son, born Sept. 21, weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce. They named him Kyran Jay. Other local grandparents are Richard and Charlotte Wiebe.

Jarold and Rhonda Koehn hosted a dinner Sunday for Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann, Mitch and Carol Unruh and Deryk, and Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and sons. Rhonda prepared Thanksgiving dinner for the guests as Monday is the traditional Thanksgiving Day in Canada, where she grew up.

Ron and Dora Unruh attended an Unruh reunion Sunday at Hesston.

Wendell and Linda Wedel attended church services Sunday with Travis and Connie Becker at Halstead, and were their dinner guests.

The Harry Wedel family gathered Friday evening for a basket supper at the Galva City Building. This was to honor Lela's birthday. The children and grandchildren were in attendance.

Larry and Wanda Koehn hosted a Sunday dinner for their family to honor Seth Koehn on his sixth birthday, which was Sept. 27. It also was an occasion to visit with Denise Koehn who had returned home Saturday after six months at a children's home in Gallup, N.M.
