Officers investigate variety of incidents

Officer Chad Funk of the Hillsboro Police Department investigated a battery complaint Sept. 12. Michael Clark Penner of Hillsboro reported that the suspects confronted him at his apartment. One suspect allegedly pushed Penner and the other hit and kicked him, causing injuries. Joshua Cody, a 19-year-old Durham man, and Jesse Thacker, a 19-year-old Hillsboro man, were arrested and booked into Marion County Jail.

Officer David Funk investigated a forgery and theft which happened Aug. 5. A suspect stole a blank personal check from Kevin LaBelle of Wichita and forged the victim's name. The suspect then took the forged check to Great Plains Federal Credit Union and opened an account. The suspect took $300 out of the account as cash before it was discovered the deposited check was forged.

On Sept. 1, Officer Brad Richards investigated a suspicious people complaint. He found the suspects and they were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending against a 15-year-old Hillsboro juvenile and an 18-year-old Hillsboro man.

Officer Chad Funk investigated a harassment by telephone complaint on Sept. 3. Derek Hoskinson and Dedra Hoskinson of Hillsboro reported that the suspect has been calling them on the telephone repeatedly with threats several times a day for several weeks. The victims have asked the suspect not to call them. Charges are pending against a 19-year-old Wichita woman.
