One-hour photo to open in Hillsboro

Until now, Hillsboro residents looking to get their photos developed in an hour have had to travel to Newton, McPherson, or Salina.

That's about to change with the arrival of a new one-hour photo shop.

The new business, "Photo Express," is opening on Monday at 127 1/2 N. Main, next to the Elcon Service electric shop.

Co-owners of the shop are Raymond Holler of Galva and Mike and Verna Meyer of Canton. They've been getting the developing machines ready at the new location and will be ready for business next week, Holler said.

Holler already owns a one-hour photo shop in McPherson called "Fotofast." Holler has owned that store since June of 2000, he said.

Holler's new store in Hillsboro will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They'll offer one-hour photo developing for 35 millimeter and APS film. The shop can also do reprints and enlargements within the day, Holler said.

To develop one 24-exposure roll of film, the cost will be $2.50 for processing plus $6 for the 24 pictures — that's $8.50 total, Holler said.

Holler decided to open another photo processing shop when he got the opportunity to buy additional machines, he said. And Marion County sounded like a good place, since there are no one-hour processing places for at least 20 miles.

"Hillsboro seemed like a logical place," Holler said.
