Ormond Schmidt
Ormond "O.D." Schmidt, 84, of McPherson, died May 6, 2007.
Born May 20, 1922, at Goessel, he was the son of Karl and Helen (Schroeder) Schmidt.
On Sept. 5, 1947, he married Emma Ruth Huxman at Moundridge.
He was a member of the International Flying Farmers and Goessel Mennonite Church.
He was receded in death by his parents; and a brother, Roy Schmidt.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Ruth Schmidt of McPherson; two sons, Myron Schmidt of Newton and Neil Schmidt of McPherson; daughter, Ellen Gilbert of McPherson; sister, Velora Krehbiel of Lakin; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Goessel Mennonite Church with Pastor Chris Whitacre and Pastor Mike Hiebert officiating.
A private family burial service will precede the memorial service.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to Camp Mennoscah, Capper Foundation, or Hospice Care of Kansas.
