Otto Bartel

Otto Bartel, 81, Goessel, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.

Born Sept. 17, 1923, in rural Hillsboro, he was the son of Peter and Anna (Schmidt) Bartel. A farmer and lifelong Hillsboro-Goessel area resident, he was a member of Goessel Mennonite Church.

On Sept. 4, 1947, he married Geneva Dirksen and they resided in Goessel.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, four brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Carol Hartzler of Newton and Bev Claassen of Beatrice, Neb.; brothers, Roland Bartel of Eugene, Ore. and Peter Bartel of Wichita; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9, at Goessel Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Goessel Mennonite Church with Rev. Kevin Goertzen officiating.

Private burial service will be at Goessel cemetery prior to the memorial service.

Memorial funds have been established with Bethesda Home
