Parkside celebrates award with balloon launch
It was a party Friday when residents and staff at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, launched balloons and had a picnic in the courtyard to celebrate being recipients of the PEAK award.
The facility recently was given the award for person-centered care which enables residents to have meal, menu, and other lifestyle choices, living like they would at home.
Bright green balloons with the Parkside name, address, and phone number were launched in hopes that when people find the balloons they might contact the facility.
Maintenance supervisor Paul Epp and housekeeping supervisor Robin Allen were the barbecue chefs, cooking brats and hamburgers for all to enjoy.
Amidst the celebration was the resident dog which enjoyed popping stray balloons that failed to launch.
A more formal celebration is planned when representatives of Kansas Department for Aging visit Parkside.
